About this course

This four-week course is open to anybody who wants to sing in these popular, rhythmic styles which broadly incorporate gospel, jazz, blues, soul and R&B. We will be learning the basics of improving our singing with rhythm, soul and jazz. Through group exercises and practice recommendations, we will be developing the skills needed to express ourselves in these genres as well as looking at a number of well-known tunes from across the last hundred years of music as well as ‘choral jazz’ and some tips on simple improvising. Sound files of backing tracks will be made available for practice between sessions. No previous singing experience is necessary.
