Reading Music for Singers – Beginners with Jon Baker

Mondays and Fridays from 11.30 am – 12.30 pm 

Starts 14th September

In this 6-session course, we will cover the rudiments of simple music notation: rhythm, pitch and harmony. We will use practical approaches to counting and time signatures, finding notes, intervals, clefs, note values and the musical stave. The course is suitable for beginners and those who wish to brush up on singing from written music. It will also be suitable for non-singers who want to take this opportunity to learn more about basic music theory.

Reading Music for Singers – Intermediate with Jon Baker

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11.30 am – 12.30 pm 

Starts 15th September

This six-session course is suitable for participants who want to follow up on the beginners’ course as well as those who already have a basic grasp of music notation. It will focus on developing the skills and techniques required to promote confidence and accuracy when reading a vocal score. There will be an emphasis on how to ‘hear’ rhythms and melodies from the shape of the musical line and singing in harmony.

Harmony Singing – Skills & Songs with Sian Croose

Saturdays 11:00 – 12.15 pm for 4 weeks 

Starts 19th September

In these workshops, we will learn more about harmony, what it is, how it works and how to build your confidence when singing in parts. We will be singing a wide range of brilliant, uplifting and inspiring music from around the world with recordings to practice with between sessions.

Tuning In with Sian Croose

Wednesdays 11:00 am –  12:15 pm from 23 September to Wednesday 14 Oct 2020

This course is designed to introduce participants to simple mindfulness techniques that make the connection between the body, breath, and voice. We will learn two meditation practices and apply them to how we use our voices, drawing on vocal music traditions from around the world that help us release our voices and calm our minds.
