Our programme of Open Voices sessions to keep us singing through the spring is now open for booking.
All sessions will be streamed via Zoom, recorded and subsequently available on the Voice Project website if you aren’t able to make the time of the sessions or want to watch again.
Prices for all courses are £45 full price / £35 concessions and can be booked via the COURSES page of this website. If funds are tight we have some reduced cost / free bursary places available on application to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Reading Music from Scratch with Jon Baker
Mondays 7-8pm for 6 weeks
1, 8, 15, 22 February and 1, 8 March
This 6-week online course is for complete beginners to reading music. We will go through the basic building blocks of acquiring this skill with practical examples as well as some singing. We will cover clefs, staves, rhythms, note names and positions as well as looking at printed music and tips and tricks for reading it, with a special emphasis on music for singers.
Harmony Singing – Skills and Songs with Sian Croose
Saturdays 11am – 12.15 pm for 6 weeks
6, 13, 20, 27 February and 6, 13 March
In these workshops, we will learn more about harmony, what it is, how it works and how to build your confidence when singing in parts. We will be singing a wide range of brilliant, uplifting and inspiring music with recordings to practice with between sessions.
Singing for Tenors and Basses (The Vital Spark) with Jon Baker
Wednesdays 7-8pm for 6 weeks
3, 10, 17, 24 February and 3, 10 March
Last year, we started a group called The Vital Spark which was a singing group for men with songs from a wide range of genres from around the world in unison and harmony. This year we’re opening this to men (tenors and basses) and women tenors. All music is taught by ear and we will aim to make a simple recording of some of the material taught by the end of the course.
Tuning In with Sian Croose
Wednesdays 11am – 12.15 pm for 6 weeks
10, 17, 24 February and 3, 10, 17 March
This course is designed to introduce participants to simple mindfulness techniques that make the connection between the body, breath, and voice. We will learn two meditation practices and apply them to how we use our voices, learning and singing vocal music from a wide range of musical sources that will help us release our voices and calm our minds.
